Opioid Funding Application

Funding applications are now available which are aimed at supporting local organizations and initiatives focused on opioid abuse and misuse prevention. This funding opportunity is based on the following principles:

Principle 1- Spend the money to save lives.
Principle 2- Use evidence to guide spending.
Principle 3- Invest in youth prevention.
Principle 4- Focus on racial equity.
Principle 5- Develop a fair and transparent process for deciding where to spend the funding.

Application process: Completed applications are sent to the Opioid Settlement Advisory Committee to review and make recommendations to the Kanabec County Board of Commissioners. The Kanabec County Board of Commissioners will make the final decision to approve or deny funding proposals. 

Due Date: Applications for the first round of funding need to be completed and emailed to Kathryn.burski@co.kanabec.mn.us by 12 noon on December 22, 2023

Other Information:
Funding will be on a reimbursement basis. An advance of up to 20% of the funding award may be provided with demonstrated need of grantee.
It is anticipated that funding agreements will be negotiated and put in place by the end of January 2024.
