Victim/Witness Program

The goal of the Kanabec County Victim/Witness Program is to provide victims and witnesses of crime supportive services and assistance in dealing with the crime itself and the expectations of the criminal justice system.

The Victim/Witness Program provides victim and witness services for cases charged by the Kanabec County Attorney’s Office only.

Being a crime victim can be a difficult and traumatic experience and the criminal justice system can be confusing and overwhelming to those who are not familiar with it.

Our Victim Witness Coordinator is available to answer your questions, address your concerns, and help you through the criminal prosecution process. Although counseling is not provided by the program, our coordinator can listen to your concerns and make appropriate referrals to help you.

Most individuals do not expect to be a victim of a crime and are unprepared to deal with their victimization. Crime victims have certain rights outlined by Minnesota Statute.

Our goal is to provide all victims of crime with an understanding of the criminal justice process, and inform them of their rights.
