Protective Orders

Criminal No Contact Order:

Order for Protection (OFP):
An OFP is issued by a Judge in civil court (separate from divorce hearings) and is brought by an individual seeking protection from domestic abuse by a family or household member. There is no fee for an OFP and individuals do not need to be represented by an attorney to request an OFP.

Harassment Restraining Order (HRO):
An HRO is issued by a Judge in civil court and is brought by an individual seeking protection from harm or harassment. The Petitioner does not need to have a personal relationship with the Respondent. There may be a filing fee to start a harassment case and individuals do not need to be represented by an attorney.
