Tobacco License

Kanabec County requires a tobacco license to sell or offer to sell any tobacco, tobacco products or tobacco related devices.

Where to Apply

  • To apply for a tobacco license within city limits, you must apply with the municipal clerk.
  • To apply for a tobacco license outside city limits, or if the city does not issue a tobacco permit, you must apply at the county auditor's office.

 

How to Apply
You must complete the following forms and return them with the appropriate fees to the County Auditor. The County Auditor will then forward the application to the County Board for action at its next regulary scheduled board meeting. The forms may be downloaded on line, but will need to be mailed or delivered to the County Auditor's office.

Fees

  • The license fee is $50.00
  • We accept cash, check or money order
  • Checks are made payable to Kanabec County


Renewals
The renewal of a license shall be handled in the same manner as the original application. The request for renewal shall be made at least thirty days but no more than sixty days befor the expiration of the current license.

Additional Information - New & Renewal
All license are valid from July 1 of the year the license is issued through June 30th of the following year. Licenses issued after July 1 may be accepted for new retailers and the license fee may be prorated.

All licenses shall be valid only on the premises for which the license was issued and only for the person to whom the license was issued. No transfer of any license to another location or person shall be valid.
