Jail Volunteer Program

Dear Volunteer Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the programs in the Kanabec County Jail. Included on this page is an application and basic information. Please fill out the application and submit it at your earliest convenience. All applications will be processed and you will be notified by the Jail Programmer of your verification as a volunteer.
If your application is approved you will be asked to attend a volunteer training session. This training is mandatory for all volunteers who run programs. The Department of Corrections views volunteers as “unpaid staff” and they have many of the same training requirements as “paid staff”. This training will include the following:
Rules and Policies
Emergency Plans
Inmate Handbook familiarity
PREA- (Prison Rape Elimination Act)
It will also be a time to address any questions and concerns you may have.
All staff, including volunteers, must be trained in each of these areas or the Department of Corrections will not let you begin your volunteer work.
Once again thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer. Our programs are successful because of our volunteers. Your willingness to donate your time and skills is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions please contact me and I will be glad to help you.

THANK YOU!
